Embracing Veterans Past, Present, and Future
The G.V. "Sonny" Montgomery Center for America's Veterans located on the campus of Mississippi State University is a National Leader in providing comprehensive support through a University based Veteran Resource Center.
Scholarships
The Center for America’s Veterans Scholarships are provided by alumni and friends of Mississippi State University. These scholarships are to assist student veterans, service-members and dependents enrolled at Mississippi State University with any un-met financial needs while attending school.
Student Veterans Association
The Student Veterans Association (SVA) is a student organization which we gladly sponsor and take a great deal of pride in. As one of the largest student organizations on campus, the SVA focuses on what they can do to makes things better for the student veteran, dependent and what they can do to give back to the community that supports them in so many ways.
Each year they work with the Maroon Volunteer Center on community projects and raise funds through the annual 5k in which a portion of the money raised is donated to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Each year the SVA partners with the Holmes Cultural Diversity Center with a focus on promoting equality and inclusion for all. Each staff member of the CAV plays an important role in assisting and advising the SAV with the Director designated as the faculty advisor.
Outreach
The Outreach Mission is in keeping with that of the University's, to enhance growth by seeking out all veterans, service-members, dependents and survivors in order to provide them the opportunity to enhance their lives by obtaining a degree here at MSU. The mission consists of building relationships in the community and beyond as well as increasing awareness of the Center throughout the civilian community as well as the military community.
